DFA Generation 4

Over 15 years after ASL’s first project with Duty Free Americas, we were selected to design a series of 10 stores at Washington D.C.’s Dulles and Reagan Airports. The stores evolved from the previous generation 3 stores in two primary aspects. First, the design of the storefronts was opened up much more than the previous generation. Entries were enlarged as much as the spaces would allow. Large glass windows supplemented the open storefront feeling, while simultaneously serving as product displays. The other major change was the design of the ceilings. The swooping ceiling planes overlap one another to create a dynamic motion that draws customers into and through the spaces. The stores will be finishing completion in 2017.
